John Byrne is a Dublin native and Philadelphia resident, hailed by The Philadelphia Inquirer as "one of the few musical artists today who truly manage to be traditional and modern at the same time." His new record A Shiver in the Sky (2019) shows his band of multi-instrumentalists vibrantly executing ten new originals. Strings, horns and guitars escort Byrne’s vocals through a set of songs about living and pushing forward through negative times. Following up After the Wake (2011), Celtic Folk (2013) and The Immigrant and the Orphan (2015), A Shiver in the Sky focuses on triumph over trauma. Support from radio all over the country pushed the album to #1 on the Roots Radio Report Alternative Folk Chart in January 2020. John’s solo/duo shows weave his own material with Irish and American folk and Americana songs. Critics have called his writing “powerful, deeply moving work that will stay with you long after you have heard it” (Sing Out). Learn more about The John Byrne Band.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Show Info:
Our Drive-In Concerts take place in the back parking lot of our campus at 39 Conestoga Road, Malvern, PA. The show will be one 75 to 90-minute set. It is our goal to start and end on time. Musicians will perform on a raised stage at the back of the lot.
Ticket Info:
Tickets are $75 per car and limited to 5 passengers per car (not including children under 12). There are no physical tickets for this event. Attendees will receive a confirmation email receipt immediately following purchase, as well as a reminder email with more details a few days before the concert. In the event of inclement weather, the rain date for this event is Sunday, July 18 at 6:30pm.
Health and Safety:
Each vehicle is limited to 5 people and assigned a parking spot and adjacent "Home Space" for setting up lawn chairs. For everyone’s safety, please remain in the designated concert area and only congregate in your Home Space or in the grassy areas surrounding the parking lot. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. People’s Light and Farmhouse staff will be masked when closely interacting with concertgoers, and we are following current PA regulations for outdoor events. We will update our guidelines should regulations change.
When You Arrive:
Please plan to arrive between 5:30 and 6pm so we can get everyone parked in time for the 6:30pm concert.
An attendant will greet you as you approach the concert area. Please provide your name so we can check your ticket status. Your car will be assigned a number, which will be adhered to your back windshield by the attendant. This is to assist in food delivery for those who pre-ordered from our on-site restaurant, and is also a helpful safety measure.
Parking attendants will guide you to a parking space. Cars will be parked based on the size of the vehicle, facing the stage. Lower cars in front, bigger vehicles in the back. You will not be allowed to move your vehicle once you’ve parked. Vehicles that don’t fit in a parking space (such as campers or oversized trucks) will not be allowed entry. Your view of the stage will be dependent on your location and the number of large vehicles in the lot, so we encourage you to bring your smallest vehicle!
2+ Car Parties:
With vaccinations rolling out, we realize that your social circle may be expanding. If you wish to attend with a larger group, you will need to coordinate your arrival so your cars (5 person max per car) can be parked together. Please plan for all cars in your party to meet up in the front parking lot so you can drive into the concert area at the rear of the property together.
Your Home Space:
Every vehicle will be assigned a "Home Space," an adjacent parking spot where you can set up lawn chairs. This space will be on the DRIVER’S SIDE of your vehicle, as all vehicles will be parked facing the stage.
Food and Beverages:
You can pre-order food and drinks from The Farmhouse at People’s Light (and yes, this includes alcoholic beverages!) Specific instructions will be emailed to concert ticket holders, along with a 10% discount code. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Beverages will also be available for purchase as concessions within the concert area.
Bathrooms:
There will be three standard portable toilets, one ADA-compliant portable toilet, and two double wash stations located in the parking lot.
Vehicle Protocol:
All vehicles must face the stage. Please turn off your car when you park and make sure your hatchback/trunk is lowered so your neighbors can see. We do not encourage people to sit in a car that is idling for more than ten minutes. (But don't forget to turn your lights back on at the end of the night!)
Smoking:
We do not allow smoking anywhere on our property at this time. This includes cigarettes, cigars, and cannabis.
Pets:
We love our pups here at People’s Light, but for liability and insurance reasons we cannot allow them on the property during our outdoor events.
Trash:
If you have food or drinks delivered to your Home Space, we will give you a plastic bag to put your trash in. It would be a big help if you could take your trash home. If you don’t want to do that, please tie up your trash in the bag and leave it in your Home Space. We will pick up garbage when the parking lot is empty.
A big thank you to our sponsors!
