Before Rosa Parks refused to go to the back of the bus,
before Martin Luther King, Jr. inspired a movement,
Lloyd Price’s music brought Black and white youth together.
From obscure beginnings to overnight teen sensation, from unsung trailblazer to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the story of Lloyd Price has never been told onstage— until now. Featuring a stellar cast of fifteen singers and dancers performing iconic hits like “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” “Stagger Lee,” and the legendary song that became his namesake, this world premiere musical celebrates one of the most resilient and influential entertainers of our time, Lloyd "Mr. Personality" Price.

Lloyd Price’s story is now a musical. ‘Personality’ beautifully recalls his life and legacy
"Aubyn and Washington ... are both electrifying performers. So, too, is Miles Boone, as Price’s rival, Little Richard, and, for that matter, the rest of the ensemble."
People’s Light presents Personality: The Lloyd Price Musical
"A skillful biography-with-music that engagingly chronicles the life of an under-recognized 20th-century pop star."
"Saint Aubyn brings adult 'Mr. Personality' to life with a five-star grin, vocals and plenty of charisma of his own, while Nathaniel Washington provides raw power to kinetic young Lloyd."
'Personality: The Lloyd Price Musical'
"A must see on every level."
"Dazzling, fast-paced, high-energy"
"Personality is a fantastic new musical that will keep Lloyd Price's life and music on our minds from decades to come."
Actress Donnie Hammond says new role gets her moving
"There are lots of people around who may be good at what they do, but you have to be better than good. You also have to be willing to take chances."
WHYY – An American story: The life of R&B singer Lloyd Price premieres at People’s Light
"Price was able to see an early version of Personality before he died. . . After the reading Price got onstage to address the audience, but the normally effusive performer was overwhelmed, struck dumb. Madoff remembers seeing tears on his face.
'I go out there and hug him, and his body is quaking and he’s sobbing,' he said."
