Students entering grades 2 through 4
July 22-August 2 (2 weeks)
Monday-Friday
9:00am-4:00pm
Final sharing Thursday, August 1 at 3:00pm
Inspiration is everywhere. Imagine each day as a scavenger hunt for stories, old and new. Students will become detectives, observing the people, objects, and patterns in the world around them. We’ll look for characters in the back of the attic, the nook of a tree, the song somebody whistles, or the photo framed in the hall. Once we delight in the ingredients of a story, acting it out is joyful!
Students work in small groups and as a full ensemble to create an original play. In the process, we practice both empathy and critical thinking, as we weave our observations into dramatic structures with a beginning, middle and end. We exercise our expressive bodies, strong voices, and supportive teamwork. Young people emerge as confident communicators and creators.
Every kid has the power to bring a story to life.
This session includes a sharing for loved ones at 3pm on Thursday, August 1 in The Farmhouse at People’s Light. The program then continues for its final day on Friday, August 2.
