Acting a Song with Mark Wade

Saturday, January 10, 2:00–5:00pm

Hone your performance techniques as an actor and singer in this unique offering developed by master teacher Mark Wade. Mark has helped hundreds of students (including a young Lin-Manuel Miranda) transition from high school and college theatre to Broadway, film and television. He will work with students to help them connect to their characters, ground themselves in the given circumstances of the scene, and deliver unforgettable performances, while bringing their most authentic, resonant and courageous selves to the song.

The Actor’s Voice with Madeleine Garcia

Saturday, February 14, 2:00-5:00pm

Join Company Artist Madeleine Garcia (onstage as Belle, Fiona, and others in this season's A Christmas Carol) to learn how to fine-tune the actor’s instrument. In this exploration of voice, breath and body, students will gain insights into how actors are able to transform into different characters by shifting their tone, focus, resonance and movement patterns. Expand your range and discover new heights in a workshop designed to help you reach your creative potential!

Physical Theatre Techniques with Connor McAndrews

Saturday, March 14, 2:00–5:00pm

Explore embodied movement for the stage with award-winning actor and Pig Iron Theatre graduate Connor McAndrews. Having recently won a Barrymore Award for his hilarious take on the iconic Smee in last season's Peter Panto, Connor will share his secrets for mastering the art of physical comedy in this joyful workshop. Refine your movements onstage, gain greater confidence, explore breath, gaze, tempo and other techniques to enhance your physical awareness, and explore presence and timing through your inner clown.

Fantasy Make-up Techniques with Ryan Krauss

Saturday, April 11, 2:00–5:00pm

Learn universal makeup techniques and tricks through a guided practice application of a fantasy makeup look. Students will learn and carry out the basics of preparing the face for makeup, different application tools and skills, and how to use various types of makeup to achieve different effects, among other things. Various take-home informational materials will be provided as well. Makeup will be applied to the student's own face, and there will be opportunities to take photos.

As Wardrobe Manager, Ryan collaborates with guest designers and actors on every People's Light production and is integral to our behind-the-scenes magic. This popular class sold out last year, so don't wait!
