In 2023, People's Light had the honor of premiering Heather Raffo's Nine Parts as a streamed digital production — a new film adaptation of her internationally-acclaimed play 9 Parts of Desire. On March 3rd, Raffo herself will join us in The Farmhouse at People's Light for a special evening with WHYY, featuring a screening and discussion of this powerful film.

Following the screening, stay for an intimate and engaging discussion led by the playwright and filmmaker. Over tea and dessert, guests will explore the film’s moving themes of grief, cultural heritage, and collective resilience.

Nine Parts tells the story of an Iraqi-American woman grieving her father’s death during the pandemic as she journeys to the oldest Iraqi church in North America. Through ancestral stories of Iraqi women, personal loss is transformed into shared strength and hope.

Admission is free, but space is limited. Reserve your tickets on WHYY.org to be part of this meaningful and memorable evening.
