JOB OVERVIEW

Work with a creative team to deliver excellent customer service, respond promptly to customer inquires, and train all Box Office personnel in hospitality standards, policies, and sales procedures. The Box Office Manager reports to the Director of Ticketing & Sales. The ideal candidate will be ready to jump in and tackle a variety of projects in a fast-paced and creative environment. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that will not exceed 40 hours per week. Compensation is $33,000/yr plus full health benefits and paid time off. After one year in the position, People’s Light will begin contributions into our employee pension plan.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and train all Box Office personnel in customer service standards
  • Ensure staff is fully trained in handling customer issues and explaining policy regarding ticket sales
  • Schedule, train, and supervise seasonal box office representatives to ensure competency in all customer service operations
  • Develop and maintain Box Office documentation and training materials through pre-existing knowledge base platforms (i.e. Trello, Guru, Slack, Tessitura)
  • Assist with generating of production reports using the Tessitura ticketing system
  • Establish and enforce Box Office procedures that ensure financial accountability for all staff
  • Maintain phone hours and update external-facing messaging through VOIP phone system; maintain external-facing email accounts and update external messaging
  • Run daily sales reports and work with Director of Ticketing & Sales to reconcile with finance; This includes assistance with reconciling any issues between ticket sales and the financial department including shortages or overages in cash boxes
  • Maintain subscription database as necessary and coordinate with Director of Ticketing & Sales during annual subscription renewal process
  • Oversee the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly sales of tickets and subscriptions through entering and submitting data as required
  • Work both independently and in coordination with Group Sales Associate to maintain relationships with and ticket large parties of 10+ 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A commitment to Equity and Inclusion
  • Three to five years Box Office experience
  • Must be able to work well independently while managing, training, and motivating others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills
  • Successfully handle multiple priorities in hectic situations
  • Perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Work with the public and possess conflict resolution skills
  • Identify the priority of critical issues, and work toward results
  • Accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and other Windows applications required
  • Cash handling experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two plus years management experience strongly preferred
  • Preexisting knowledge of the Tessitura ticketing system
  • Fluent or proficient in both Spanish and English
