Reach for the Stars –
2008 People’s Light Auction to Benefit Project Discovery

FRIDAY, APRIL 4, 2008
6:00-11:00 PM
The Farmhouse

Please join us for the eighth People’s Light auction to benefit Project Discovery. The theme of this year’s fun and exciting evening is the beautiful region of Provence. Once again our luxury and live auctions will feature extraordinary items including exciting trip packages, hard-to-get sports tickets, rare wines, golf at the area’s best courses, a private cooking class in your home, tickets to in-demand Broadway productions, and much, much more. The highlight of the evening will be choosing the winning raffle ticket that opens the door to the heart of Provence—a door that will lead to a one-week sojourn in the charming villa Le Trésor located in the Luberon, considered to be the "the real Provence." This is the region that inspired Cezanne and charmed Peter Mayle.

The auction will be held Friday, April 4, 2008, from 6:00 to 11:00 PM in The Farmhouse. Our soirée will begin with a luxury silent auction and cocktail reception, followed by a full-course Provenç al-themed dinner and live auction. And all who attend will leave with the satisfaction of knowing they have supported Pennsylvania’s largest arts education program—a program that touches 30,000 students throughout our region every year.

For more than 20 years, People’s Light, through Project Discovery, has worked in your community to make the arts an essential part of children’s education and development. Project Discovery is the largest and most comprehensive theatre education program in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the nation. These programs unleash imaginations and stimulate learning by integrating theatre techniques into school curricula, enhancing literacy skills; by teaching teachers theatre skills which engage all learners, not just the academically gifted ones; and by reaching out to under-served youth, contributing profoundly to social relations and understanding between different races and communities. Simply stated, Project Discovery improves learning, motivates students and transforms our youth.

Invitations have gone out. If you would like to receive an invitation or have any questions about the event, please contact Julia Loving at 610.647.1900, ext. 119 or loving@peopleslight.org.
