Recent NewsPeople’s Light welcomes two theatre artists who have joined the Education Department in 2007. Ahren Potratz Ahren has performed in four productions at People’s Light (Theophilus North, Jason and the Golden Fleece, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and 30Fest) and became the full-time Resident Teaching Artist in April. He is a Barrymore-nominated actor and SAFD certified Actor-Combatant living and working in the Philadelphia region. Ahren holds a BFA from The University of the Arts. Sara Waxman Sara joined the department as the Education Coordinator in August 2007. She is the registrar for PLTC’s Theatre School and Summerstage program, as well as the stage manager for the Adult Ensemble. Previous to being hired at People’s Light, Sara stage managed for Theatre Exile, Brat Productions, and Azuka Theatre. She has also worked with the Philadelphia Zoo’s educational department on programs such as Night Flight, Zoozapalooza, and Jungle Trek. Sara is a graduate of Arcadia University. Honors and Recognition for Education ProgramsPeople’s Light was approved as an Act 48 Continuing Professional Education Provider by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This approval means that People’s Light can offer professional development courses to teachers for Act 48 credit. People’s Light was also approved to be included on the PA State list of “Innovative Education Providers.” This status allows corporations to receive a tax deduction when they contribute to Project Discovery.
