2010 SUMMER CLASSES FOR ADULTS (Ages 18 & Up)

People’s Light offers classes for adults of all ages and levels of experience.  Introductory classes allow adults to explore theatre making through ensemble activities, improvisation, and script work.  Advanced classes provide opportunities for actors to build on their previous acting training, pursuing advanced techniques and scene study.

People’s Light & Theatre is a professional non-profit theatre in Malvern, PA.  Celebrating its 35th anniversary, People’s Light produces plays for adult and family audiences as well as numerous programs for youth and schools.



Improvisation and Acting Technique

Mondays, 6:45-8:45 p.m.                                                 
6 weeks, June 7 – July 19
(no class on Monday, July 5)                                           
Cost: $180

Instructor: Susan McKey

Participants will explore key elements of the acting process including character development, physical and vocal skills, and approaching a script with particular attention paid to improvisation.  Participants will have an opportunity to investigate different methods for interpreting a script and bringing to life a character’s world using the actor’s tools of voice, body, and imagination.



Acting Shakespeare                                                  
Mondays, 7:00-9:00 p.m.                                                 
6 weeks, May 17 –  June 28
(no class on Monday, May 31)                                        
Cost: $180

Instructor: Charles Conwell
Previous class or experience recommended.

Learn to let Shakespeare direct you to passionate thought.  Students will perform sonnets, soliloquies, and scenes.  Students will learn to work with iambic pentameter, mental images, objectives, and moment to moment spontaneity. Charles Conwell is a Professor of Theater at the University of the Arts.
